Rhinoplasty

Plastic surgery on the nose is a rhinoplasty. Rhinoplasty is a very common plastic surgery procedure it the United States. Rhinoplasty techniques fall into two broad categories: closed rhinoplasty and open rhinoplasty. In a closed rhinoplasty the surgeon makes all the incisions inside the nose, leaving no visible scars. Open rhinoplasty incisions are 90 percent inside with a small incision made at the columella or the lower part of the nose. Each rhinoplasty category has its benefits and disadvantages. The closed rhinoplasty has no visible scars, but offers a limited view of the nasal structures. The open rhinoplasty leaves a small scar barely visible from below the nose, but offers better views of the nasal structures. Most surgeons choose to proceed with an open rhinoplasty. Chin implants are perfect adjunct procedures to rhinoplasty particularly in patients with a large nose and a small chin.
