Breast Surgery Complications

Not every plastic surgery procedure leads to perfect results. Unnatural results are the most common complaints with plastic surgery. The doctor may injure the nerve supply to the breast or nipple areola complex. Most damage is typically temporary, but permanent or partial loss of nipple and skin sensation may occur. Patients may experience diminished sensitivity of the nipples and the skin of the breast. Breast Feeding Removal of the glandular tissue from the breasts during the breast reduction surgery may cause impacts. Breast reduction may impair the likelihood of breastfeeding success due to the surgical disruption to the lactiferous duct system. A number of studies have demonstrated a similar ability to breast-feed when breast reduction patients compared to control groups.
